Amazon now lets you design custom merch using AI
Amazon has launched a new AI-powered feature enabling customers in the U.S. to design custom merchandise directly within its Shopping app. This service, called Merch on Demand, significantly lowers the barrier for individuals to create personalized products, challenging existing online merchandise platforms.
Amazon has introduced a new AI-powered feature that allows users to design custom merchandise directly through its Shopping app. This development expands Amazon's challenge to established online merchandise platforms like Redbubble and Bonfire. The new tool, accessed via Alexa prompts, enables anyone to transform their ideas into designs for various items, from apparel to tumblers, all available through Amazon's print-on-demand service, Merch on Demand.
This service is ideal for creating one-off personalized items, such as custom T-shirts for family events or unique gifts featuring pet portraits. Amazon handles the entire production and delivery process, leveraging its Prime shipping network.
By integrating AI-generated merchandise production directly into its shopping experience, Amazon significantly lowers the entry barrier for consumers. This feature allows individuals to create physical products without needing traditional design skills, shifting AI-designed merchandise from a niche service to a mainstream shopping option.
The feature is currently exclusive to the U.S. market and is free to use; customers only pay for the products they order. Users can access the design tool by tapping the Alexa icon in the Amazon Shopping app or by searching "customize" in the search bar. This intuitive interface allows users to describe their design ideas to Alexa, generate visuals, and then modify them as needed. Designs can also be shared with others, facilitating group purchases.
Merch on Demand supports a wide array of products, including various types of T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, hoodies, tank tops, tumblers, and water bottles.
