Apple’s long-awaited AI Siri overhaul is finally here
Apple has finally unveiled its highly anticipated AI-powered Siri overhaul at WWDC 2026, transforming the voice-controlled assistant into a comprehensive AI companion. The new Siri AI integrates with user devices, offers enhanced conversational capabilities, and provides a "Write with Siri" option for intelligent text generation.
Apple has officially unveiled its significantly updated AI-powered Siri at WWDC 2026, two years after initially promising a smarter version. This overhaul aims to transform Siri from a basic voice assistant into a comprehensive AI companion, equipped with advanced functionalities. A dedicated Siri app will accompany the new assistant.
The revamped Siri AI is designed to leverage current world knowledge for more informed answers and can access on-device information, responding intelligently based on screen content. This strategic move positions Siri as a direct competitor to established conversational AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
Key new features include "Write with Siri," which assists users in generating text for emails and messages, adapting to their individual communication styles. The assistant also displays search results as text cards and boasts a redesigned interface integrated into the iPhone's Dynamic Island.
Users can now engage Siri through various methods, including typing, voice commands, or the side button, to perform complex tasks such as message writing that draw upon web information, past emails, calendar details, and contacts. The update also brings a new voice experience for Siri, with customizable pace and expressivity, alongside improved system-wide dictation accuracy.
