Apple’s Siri revamp could include auto-deleting chats
Apple is expected to announce a revamped Siri at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference, focusing on privacy features such as auto-deleting chats. This move is seen as an attempt to regain relevance in the AI space by offering a more privacy-friendly alternative to other chatbots.
Apple is set to unveil a new version of Siri at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, emphasizing privacy as a core feature. This relaunch is seen as Apple's significant effort to re-establish its position in the artificial intelligence market. The company aims to differentiate itself by offering a more privacy-friendly approach compared to other AI providers.
The revamped Siri is anticipated to include a standalone application, powered by Google Gemini, offering users a chatbot experience similar to ChatGPT. However, Apple intends to impose stricter limitations on how user data is utilized and stored.
A notable privacy feature could involve the ability to automatically delete conversations. Users may have options to clear chats after 30 days or one year, or to retain them indefinitely, mirroring functionality found in the Messages app.
While Apple highlights privacy, some suggest this focus might also serve to downplay any performance gaps Siri may have against competitors. It's also worth noting that Google will be handling some of the underlying security aspects for the new Siri.
