AutoScout24 scales engineering with AI-powered workflows
AutoScout24, a major European and Canadian online car marketplace, has accelerated its development cycles and improved code quality by integrating AI-powered workflows. The company adopted ChatGPT for its entire 2,000-person workforce and embedded Codex into its engineering, data, and product workflows, leading to faster innovation and improved user experience.
AutoScout24 Group, a leading online car marketplace in Europe and Canada, faced increasing pressure to innovate faster while maintaining reliability. With over 30 million monthly users and a network of 45,000 dealer partners, the company recognized that incremental improvements were no longer sufficient. The emergence of large language models presented a timely opportunity to transform its software development.
AutoScout24 implemented a dual-layer AI strategy. ChatGPT was rolled out to all 2,000 employees to foster AI literacy across the organization. Concurrently, Codex was integrated into engineering, data, and product workflows, equipping approximately 1,000 developers with a coding agent that enhanced productivity and code quality.
To ensure widespread adoption, AutoScout24 established an "AI Champions" network. This group facilitated feedback between leadership and teams, translating AI capabilities into practical applications and encouraging organic integration into existing workflows.
Codex proved valuable in automating pull request reviews, large-scale refactoring, technical documentation, and post-incident analysis. Beyond technical roles, AI tools empowered non-technical employees to prototype ideas, accelerating innovation throughout the company.
This strategic adoption of AI has significantly shortened development cycles, from weeks to days, and improved the overall user experience for both buyers and dealer partners. AutoScout24 Group continues to expand its use of AI, with future plans focusing on deeper integration into core systems to achieve even greater automation and intelligence across its platform.
