The device operates by reading your Claude Code OAuth token to make API calls, pulling usage numbers directly from the response headers. This ensures accurate and real-time tracking of token consumption.
As an open-source initiative, the Clawdmeter encourages community contributions, allowing users to customize features, animations, and screens. Since its launch, it has garnered significant attention on GitHub, with many users forking the project to explore their own modifications. Its appeal lies in both its practical utility and its nostalgic nod to dedicated hardware devices of the past.
