Deezer’s new tool can identify AI music from Spotify, Apple Music, and others
Deezer has launched a free online tool to detect AI-generated music across various streaming platforms. This initiative reinforces Deezer's stance against AI music, as it already removes AI tracks from recommendations and offers its detection technology to rivals. The company will actively detect and tag AI music as 44% of new music uploaded to its platforms is AI-generated, with a high percentage flagged as fraudulent.
Deezer has introduced a new, free online tool capable of identifying AI-generated music across various streaming platforms. This development comes as concerns mount over the use of copyrighted material by AI companies and potential fraud within streaming systems. The tool supports 27 languages and is compatible with 20 popular platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music. Users can import their playlists to scan for AI content and share results.
This launch solidifies Deezer's position as a leading opponent of AI music in the industry. Unlike rivals that employ tagging, Deezer actively removes AI tracks from recommendations and editorial playlists. The company has also begun sharing its AI detection technology with other platforms.
The need for such a tool is highlighted by the surge in AI-generated music. Deezer reports that 44% of new music uploaded to its platform is AI-generated, amounting to approximately 75,000 tracks daily and over two million monthly. Despite this high volume, AI-generated music accounts for only 1-3% of total streams, with about 85% of these streams being flagged as fraudulent and subsequently demonetized.
