Pool’s new app turns your screenshots into something useful

Pool is a new app that organizes your phone's screenshots, transforming them from digital clutter into an easily searchable and actionable resource. Utilizing AI, Pool helps users rediscover and act on saved content, linking screenshots back to their original sources and even providing additional context.

Your phone's camera roll often serves as an archive for various online finds, from recipes to travel ideas, saved as screenshots. The new app, Pool, aims to bring order to this digital clutter by organizing these screenshots into personalized categories called "pools." This redefines bookmarking by focusing specifically on screenshots and using AI to help users rediscover and act on saved content.

Pool leverages AI to track down the original source of a screenshot. For example, a screenshot of a product can be linked to the retailer's website, or a recipe screenshot can provide ingredients and instructions. This functionality allows users to easily revisit and utilize information they intended to remember. The founders, Maxime Junique and Piet Terheyden, developed Pool to solve a common problem: forgetting about important screenshots.

The initial version of Pool was built three years ago by Spinoff Studio, founded by Junique and Terheyden. However, they paused its development to focus on other revenue-generating products, such as the CRM software Waitless. The recent advancements in AI technology breathed new life into Pool, making its core idea of organizing unstructured personal data feasible. The founders saw an opportunity to utilize AI for this "deeply emotional dataset" of personal screenshots, an area they felt was largely unexplored by other AI applications.

Pool also intelligently manages screenshots by treating them as memories. For instance, a screenshot of an event ticket might disappear after the event, while a flyer for an upcoming event could trigger AI agents to help find ticket purchase links. Users can search or use Pool's built-in AI assistant to find saved items. The founders plan to expand this concept into a separate "agentic AI app" that will function as a personal assistant, further enhancing how users interact with their saved content.
