Poppy is a new AI assistant that organizes your digital life by combining various apps into a single dashboard. Its proactive suggestions and ability to anticipate user needs aim to reduce digital distractions and enhance daily productivity. The app, developed by Sai Kambampati, processes user data to offer timely recommendations and intelligent automation. Kambampati envisions future versions running entirely on-device, prioritizing user privacy and data security. The company has secured $1.25 million in pre-seed funding. Poppy is available for Apple and Android devices and supports popular apps such as Google Calendar, Gmail, Outlook, Apple Health, Reminders, Contacts, iMessage, WhatsApp, Uber and Instacart. Its data privacy policy ensures encryption and zero-retention when cloud-based LLMs are used.
Poppy is a new AI assistant designed to streamline your digital life by integrating various apps into a unified dashboard. It consolidates your calendar, email, messages, and other essential services, aiming to reduce digital clutter and distractions. The app’s core philosophy is that "Poppy pays attention so you don't have to," allowing users to focus on what truly matters.
The app uses AI to analyze user data from connected services, such as email, calendar, and location, to understand current priorities and provide proactive suggestions. For example, Poppy might suggest a walk during a 30-minute break near a park or recall a friend's food preferences when recommending restaurants. Users can also interact with Poppy through messages, treating it as a personal assistant for tasks like flight tracking or medication reminders.
Sai Kambampati, Poppy's creator, founded the company with a vision to challenge traditional human-computer interaction. Having specialized in this field during his Master's degree in Computer Science, Kambampati was inspired by the idea of "ambient computing"—where technology proactively anticipates and addresses user needs. This ambition, combined with the rapid advancements in AI, made the development of Poppy possible.
Poppy supports a wide range of popular applications including Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Gmail, Outlook, iCloud Mail, Apple Health, Reminders, Contacts, iMessage, WhatsApp, Uber, and Instacart. The company prioritizes user privacy, employing encrypted data storage and a zero-retention policy for cloud-based LLMs. Kambampati aims to transition to local, on-device AI models within the next two to three years as technology evolves.
Poppy's San Francisco-based team, comprising four members, has successfully secured $1.25 million in pre-seed funding. Kindred Ventures led this funding round, with additional contributions from various angel investors, including Logan Kilpatrick of DeepMind.
