SOND, a sleep tech startup from Bose’s former head of sleep, exits stealth with $7M
SOND, a new sleep tech startup co-founded by Bose's former head of sleep products, has raised $7 million to launch its "Dreambuds." These innovative earbuds go beyond noise masking, actively intervening to improve sleep by tracking 12 physiological signals and utilizing a cloud-based AI sleep coach.
SOND, a Boston-based sleep tech startup, has emerged from stealth with $7 million in funding and introduced its debut product, Dreambuds. Co-founded by Yadid Ayzenberg, Bose's former Head of Global Sleep Products, SOND aims to revolutionize sleep technology by moving beyond traditional noise-masking earbuds.
Dreambuds are a closed-loop, in-ear system designed to actively improve sleep. The device captures 12 physiological signals, including respiration, heart rate variability, and sleep staging. This data is then streamed in real-time to a cloud-based AI sleep coach.
The AI coach analyzes the user's data and selects or generates personalized sleep audio programs. Users can also interact directly with the AI coach, asking for insights or specific programs from SOND's library of over 500 audio programs. The system is designed to operate independently, with the charging case featuring Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an OLED display, and speakers, eliminating the need for a phone to control the device.
Ayzenberg's journey to SOND began at Bose, where he realized the potential for more advanced sleep technology. After Bose exited the sleep business, he saw an opportunity to create a startup focused on innovative sleep solutions. He previously founded The Sync Project, which was acquired by Bose and led to his work on the second generation of Sleepbuds.
Funding for SOND's initial $7 million investment comes from E14 Fund, Crosslink Capital, Ubiquity Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Meach Cove Capital, and Boston Scientific co-founder John Abele.
