Spotify adds AI-powered Q&A and briefing generation features to podcasts
Spotify is launching new AI features for podcasts, including personalized podcast generation and an AI-powered Q&A for listeners. These additions aim to increase user engagement and provide new creative tools for both consumers and creators. The platform is also enabling creators to monetize content through subscriptions and brand partnerships.
Spotify is introducing a suite of new AI-powered features designed to transform the podcast experience for both listeners and creators. Users can now generate personalized podcasts based on specific prompts or interests, creating daily briefs or one-off episodes to understand a topic in depth. This functionality will soon be integrated directly into the Spotify app, following an initial GitHub-based tool release. Users can enrich these custom podcasts with external links, PDFs, and text, and even choose a custom voice for narration.
In addition to personalized podcast creation, Spotify is rolling out an AI-powered Q&A feature for Premium mobile users in the U.S., Sweden, and Ireland. This allows listeners to ask questions about current episodes or concepts mentioned within podcasts, as well as request recommendations. This initiative follows the company's earlier introduction of a prompt-based feature for creating podcast playlists.
For creators, Spotify is expanding its monetization tools. The platform is making its creator sponsorship tool more widely available to manage brand partnerships effectively. Furthermore, creators can now offer subscriptions to unlock exclusive content and unique experiences for their audience, mirroring successful strategies on other social media platforms.
These new features align with Spotify's broader strategy to enhance user engagement. After noting a 50% year-on-year increase in video podcast consumption, the company aims to deepen user interaction through Q&A functionalities and personalized content creation, encouraging more active participation within the app.
