Amazon CEO Andy Jassy reportedly expressed security concerns to government officials regarding Anthropic's AI models. Specifically, Amazon researchers allegedly used Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 to gather information useful for cyberattacks. These concerns prompted a government export control ban on Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models.

Amazon, a significant investor in Anthropic, confirmed that governments often seek its advice on potential security risks, though it declined to disclose specifics. An Amazon spokesperson noted that AWS has been impacted by the model cutoff.

David Sacks, former AI czar for Trump, stated that a trusted partner had identified a "jailbreak" in Anthropic's models. He claimed that Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei refused to fix the vulnerability or de-deploy the model when requested by the administration.

Anthropic, in response, stated that the capabilities causing governmental concern are already accessible in other publicly available models.
