Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently shared with staff that the progress in AI agent development has not been as rapid as anticipated. This comes despite earlier expectations for expedited advancements in the field. The company has made substantial investments in artificial intelligence, with plans to spend up to $145 billion on AI infrastructure this year.

Earlier this year, Meta underwent significant restructuring, laying off approximately 8,000 employees and reassigning another 7,000 to various AI-focused groups. Zuckerberg acknowledged that these job cuts were not as seamless as intended but were necessary to accelerate the company's adaptation to the evolving tech landscape.

While the perceived benefits of this new AI-centric company structure have yet to fully materialize, Zuckerberg expressed confidence. He believes that Meta will start to see the positive impact of its AI investments within the next three to six months, indicating a hopeful outlook for future developments.
