OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman takes charge of product strategy
OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman is officially leading the company's product strategy, aiming to unify ChatGPT and Codex into a single experience. This move consolidates product efforts to accelerate development for both consumers and enterprises.
OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman has officially taken charge of the company’s product strategy. This move formalizes an existing interim role, during which Brockman has been overseeing product development while the CEO of AGI deployment is on medical leave. The change aims to consolidate product efforts and accelerate development.
Brockman reportedly plans to merge ChatGPT and its programming product, Codex, into a single, unified experience. This integration seeks to enhance focus on an "agentic future" and secure success in both consumer and enterprise markets.
This strategic shift follows a "code red" declared by CEO Sam Altman last year, emphasizing a need to refocus on the core ChatGPT experience. Consequently, OpenAI has paused other projects, including its video generator Sora and the "OpenAI for Science" initiative. The company confirmed that these changes were made in collaboration with the CEO of AGI deployment, despite her ongoing medical leave.
