Indian tech tycoon bets $30M of his own money to build AI alternative to Microsoft Office
Indian entrepreneur Bhavin Turakhia has invested $30 million of his own money to launch Neo, an AI-powered enterprise work platform. Neo aims to redefine workplace software by integrating AI from the ground up, rather than retrofitting existing solutions with AI features.
Bhavin Turakhia, an Indian serial entrepreneur, has personally invested $30 million into his new venture, Neo. The platform is an AI-powered enterprise work solution designed to challenge traditional workplace software, including offerings from giants like Microsoft Office.
Turakhia’s vision for Neo is built on the premise that current workplace software, developed before the advent of the AI era, cannot be adequately upgraded with AI features. Instead, he believes a complete redesign from the ground up is necessary to fully leverage artificial intelligence. Neo integrates project management, document creation, file storage, and AI into a single, cohesive product.
Neo differentiates itself by being designed specifically for AI from its inception and is model-agnostic, allowing enterprises the flexibility to switch between different AI models. This approach addresses a perceived structural disadvantage faced by incumbent software providers who are attempting to integrate generative AI into their older product architectures.
The platform has been in internal use across Turakhia's other companies for several months. The company plans to roll out Neo to mid-sized businesses in the coming months, initially targeting knowledge workers in technology, consulting, and professional services. Turakhia highlighted that the initial platform was built in just three months, a testament to the efficiency gained by extensively using AI in the development process.
